iPhone can be tethered wirelessly

IPhones can be tethered wirelessly says Engadget. The $10 Netshare app sneaked into the Apps store without being censored. The app is just a SOCKS proxy that links an ad-hoc WiFi network to the iPhone’s 3G or EDGE connection. I guess the guys at Engadget managed to download it (it’s offline now though). Video after [...]

iTunes 7.7.1 available for download

That’s right people! iTunes 7.7.1 is available for download. Though is no clear information on what this update will do except for a few vague words as “fixes to improve stability and performance“.

Also remember this update is available in few days after the iPhone app DRM was cracked. So if you are playing with the black arts, wait or someone to report whether this affects anything. The software is available through the Apple’s software update.

Convert your iPhone 3G as modem for windows or mac

Nate True has posted an interesting tutotial at creations.net on how to “tether” your iPhone 3G and use its Internet connection on your laptop. It is possible to use the iPhone 3G as a modem for your windows or Mac by Jailbreaking it and installing 3Proxy.

Here is the outline:

  • Jailbreak your iPhone 3G
  • Install 3Proxy and Terminal
  • Create an ad-hoc Wi-fi network using your laptop
  • Join the network with your iPhone
  • Find the iPhone’s IP address
  • Open Terminal and run the proxy program
  • Open Safari on your iPhone and open a web page
  • Configure your browser to use the proxy

Tethering your iPhone is against the iPhone data plan terms. AT&T could slap you with huge fees if you overuse this. I recommend only using it during emergencies. This applies to users anywhere around the world too. Beware of your usage or you may endup paying more.
