Amphibious Robotic Snake

ACM-R5 is the name of this scary amphibious robotic snake that can swim inside water and move on the land also. Developed by Hirose Fukushima Lab in Japan, ACM-R5 consists of an universal joint and bellows. It was developed on the basis of the previous model HELIX, which was designed for research of spirochete-like helical swimming. An universal joint plays a role of bones, and bellows do a role of an integument. Video after the break.

Pleo XBee wireless & facial recognition hacks

Pleo for sure is a cute robot. But it can also help you learn about robotics. Some folks at Otto-Friedrich-University in Bamberg, Germany, calling themselves GRIP (Group for Interdisciplinary Psychology) have posted two tutorials designed to wirelessly connect Pleo to a remote computer and give him the ability to recognise faces.

RoboStool - Furniture on-demand

The guys who bought us The Stonehenge clock are back with another interesting robot. RoboStool uses Parallax Propeller chip, and motor mount kit, to navigate. RoboStool can navigate in 3different ways- Using a pre-programmed path, beacon mode (controlled by remote control) and ‘Follow me’ mode (where the Robot simply follows the user using thermal sensors). Video after the jump.

Stonehenge Robot Clock

Designed by Norris Labs, This Stonehenge inspired robotic clock display the time by rearranging the 14cards. This is robotic clock is really great for telling time, if you have plenty of time in your hands. Video after the break.
